Permanent - Field Service Technician - EMT - Ekurhuleni (East Rand) - South Africa

Reports to: Technical Product Support Manager

Role summary:

The technician performs tasks in the electrical and mechanical field including Maintenance, Servicing, Component change out, Repairs, Rebuilds
and Troubleshooting on the company's related Earthmoving equipment.  The Technician will provide service to the customers for company's machines.

KPA'S

Facilitates efficient technical, engineering and after-sales service to customers.
- Diagnoses, overhauls, repairs, tunes, maintains and service diesel powered Earthmoving
equipment and machinery in the field as well as in the workshop.
- Prepares and submits detailed field reports.
- Maintain professional customer relationships

Key Responsibilities:

Detects electrical and mechanical faults by using specialized tooling and equipment.
- Repairs and maintains electrical, hydraulic and mechanical components and systems of
diesel-powered equipment including attachments.
- Follows work assignments received in the form of general oral or written work instructions
- Determines the extent of the needed repair and determines the nature thereof and implement
- Perform checks and services on a regular basis and detects possible faults and flaws on
affected equipment
- Repairs and/or replaces and fit new sections or new parts.
- Improvises necessary solutions as and when needed.
- Travels from one site to another often in remote areas and at unusual work hours.
- Works with specialized equipment in order to perform daily duty requirement.
- Maintains a good level of physical health and fitness.
- Maintains a legal vehicle driver’s license at all times.
- Adheres to all health and safety legislation.

• Field Service Technician - EMT Division 
• Grade 12/NQF 4
• Candidate must be a trade tested Auto Electrician
• 4-5 years’ experience post apprenticeship

Computer skills:

• Must have knowledge of Microsoft office products such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Candidate will receive training on internal systems/computer programmes

Job related skills:

Auto electrical experience on Earthmoving equipment + 5 years
- Earth moving mechanical experience + 5 years
- Worked as a Field service technician.
- Maintaining punctual and high-quality paperwork / reports
- Analytical and problem solver
- Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures
- Time management

General Skills

• Good written and verbal communication skills 
• Candidate must have experience working with Earthmoving machines that require programming, automation, etc.
• The Applicant must have EMT industry experience
• The applicant must have experience in the following : Hydraulic, engines and basic electrics
• The applicant must be able to read schematics
• Industry – Mining, Construction, supply and a service management industry would be an added advantage
• Candidate will be required to travel within South Africa
• Candidate must have a valid passport
• A valid driver’s license is also essential
